(ACE) American Council on Exercise
The Sports & Exercise Engineering programme at NUI Galway has formed a strategic partnership with the American Council on Exercise® (ACE®), providing the University with access to the ACE speciallydesigned curriculum for universities, thus contributing to the education of our graduates on the human performance aspects of the products they will develop.

The partnership allows a Sports & Exercise Engineering student at NUI Galway to sit for certification as an ACE Personal Trainer and as an ACE Advanced Health & Fitness Specialist. Such certification has worldwide acceptance, providing additional opportunities for graduates to make meaningful and positive contributions to the health and fitness industry.
The American Council on Exercise is a non profit organisation committed to enriching quality of life through safe and effective exercise and physical activity. ACE sets itself the goal of protecting all segments of society against ineffective fitness products, programmes and trends through its ongoing public education, outreach and research. ACE further protects the public by setting certification and continuing education standards for fitness professionals.
Founded in 1985, ACE is a recognised leader in the field of physical fitness, having grown from a small operation to a full-service entity. ACE has over 55,000 certified health and fitness professionals in more than 77 countries and the certification and continuing education programmes are among the most respected in the fitness industry.
